Default FoW and HoM

Hopefully a simple question.

Now that 7 heroes are here I have, after 5 years finally made it to the FoW!!

I do not normally have the time to commit to a full run so I have done a few of the quests, different ones each time, just to get used to the enemies I face and that sort of thing.

My question is this. For the HoM, do I need to do all of the quests in one go, or can I do them in several seperate runs to get the HoM trophy?

Thanks

Yes. All in one go. If you know the quests should take around 2-3 hours to complete.

Hmm, maybe if it's your first attempt ever with a bad build and on HM?
But besides that, it should take around 1.5 hours even if you don't know what to do, as long as you don't have a very bad build.

It took my guild + heroes group almost exactly 2 hours the last time we were there, NM, and I don't think we were particularly slow about it. No particularly close calls, relatively fast combat with basic luring. I wonder how you people do it that 2 hours would seem a particularly long play time.

I don't know what others consider a decent time for FoW but my current 7H NM runs take about 1.5hrs and that's without any party-wide ims like fall back plus I'm doing it as a survivor warrior so I could have some bigger aggros at times.

It took me about 2.5 hours the first time I tried in NM. I stopped a couple of times to look things up in the wiki, and I did the quests in a very inefficient order (I didn't take The Hunt until my second to last quest) so I did a whole lot of running back and forth across the map. I didn't have any party-wide IMS skills either...

I would think that on a second run, knowing the quests and bringing more appropriate builds, a time of around 1.5 hours would be more appropriate.

I think 1.5 is about the right time I did it with a friend in NM with no cons. I do the quest in this order.

Rastigan or tower of courage
Army of darkness
The eternal forgemaster
The one where you have to kill shadow beasts and abyssals
The seeds of corruption (getting the hunt on the way)
Khobay
Clearing around the tower of strength
Get the mage and then do slaves of menzies
Then end it off with the wailing lord (killing the wolves on the way)

You can walk by the griffons without agroing them
You don't ever have back track to kill the wolves just don't forget to kill the one at the beach.

Acolyte, that seems to be the best order.

1. Complete "Tower of Courage" (take quest "The Wailing Lord")

2. Run to the battlefield and take both quests "Army of Darkness" and "The Eternal Forgemaster". Complete "Army of Darkness".

3. Complete "The Eternal Forgemaster". Take quest "Defending the Temple of War".

4. Complete "Defending the Temple of War". Take quest "Restoring the Temple of War" and "Khobay the Betrayer" from the Eternal Forgemaster. Take "Tower of Strength" from Eternal Lord Taeres (on second thought, this may not be available until after "Restoring the Temple of War").

5. Head straight south from the Forge and pick up "The Hunt" from Nimros the Hunter. Kill the Shard Wolf (#1) that spawns very nearby. Continue on and finish "Restoring the Temple of War". At the furthest point in the cave, exit onto the beach and head west to find another Shard Wolf (#2).

6. Activate and complete "Khobay the Betrayer". By heading farther east (right above the quest marker) and walking through the blackish magma, you can skip right to Khobay.

7. Activate "Tower of Strength". Fight your way to the quest marker, clearing up to the tower. To complete "Tower of Strength", head back to the Forge and protect the Tower Mage as he runs into the tower. There will be one foe that spawns inside when he arrives. There is also a Shard Wolf (#3) just north of the tower.

8. From the tower, head north. There will be a short narrow passage where Miko the Unchained is. You may either take his quest immediately (results in about 12 foes right at the quest marker) or clear the area beforehand. This is one of the hardest areas in the Fissure, so be careful with aggro and pulling. Either way, make sure to take and complete "Slaves of Menzies" and kill the Shard Wolf (#4) in the middle of the area.

9. Head west back into the Great Battlefield (there is a passage with a few foes that shortens the journey). You'll find another Shard Wolf (#5) just north of the Forge entrance. Head into the Burning Forest and complete "The Wailing Lord". This is probably the second hardest area in FoW. It should be fairly easy if you just head to the left side first. Whatever you do, do NOT attack the Wailing Lord, even once. On the right side, you'll find a Shard Wolf (#6). Once completed, take "A Gift of Griffons" from the Wailing Lord.

10. Personally, I would clear the way to Rastigan (in the first tower) before getting the griffons, but you can take them with you if you don't feel like clearing the way then coming back to escort them. Either way, complete "A Gift of Griffons".

11. The last Shard Wolf (#7) will be near the Tower of Courage, completing "The Hunt" and finishing the Fissure of Woe. At this point, you can put the statue in your HoM. Make sure you accept quest rewards and get your end chest!

P.S. The quest completion chests that spawn drop a single item for a single member of your party. With heroes, you can guarantee you get this drop by flagging them out of range (their names will grey out) before opening the chest. I don't suggest doing this until you're finished, since the only chests are in the Forge and Tower of Courage and you'll be hitting up both those places at the end, and since you might send your heroes to their deaths if you flag them before you've cleared the way and you're unfamiliar with mob locations.

Right, forgot that one. Follow-up tip on this chest would be to clear the way back to Rastigan, then on the way back to pick up griffons, flag heroes at the entrance of the Burning Forest, get chest, get griffons.

Thanks for the reminder .

Everyone is a little optimistic on times though. If you aren't that confident or ultra-cautious it will be a 2-3 hour run, probably with life's normal interruptions during the whole thing included.
I haven't done it with 7 heroes yet but I've done several clears with a guildies as a barrage ranger, myself as imbagon, and the heroes were 3 discorders, 1 SoS, 1 panic, 1 Divert Hexes monk.

Tweak the standard discorders for more offense since you have monk hero and if your character is an imba or healing hybrid like mine.

Good luck, it gets easier with experience.

I do it 1h10 in nm, but for a new person, probably 1h40-2h is what it will take

Thanks to all for replies, especially the list by FengShuiDove.

I have tried a few more runs but taking it very carefully and haven't used any cons or anything. A few deaths on my heroes but nothing spectacular, seem to have most problems with the Skeletal Ether Mesmers.

Best I managed in the week was 2 hrs and did 8 quests until RL got in the way!!

Feeling confident that with some free time this weekend I can succeed!!

Thank you all again

a couple of years ago i thought id give FoW a go, ... stood waiting for ages to get into a Pug.... whenever i said i was a FoW noob i would get asked to ping my build ... then would be told , crap build etc etc and when i swapped the skills and we could finally go we would get wiped by 2nd or 3rd quest ....

Oh the joy of just adding my heroes and entering FoW without waiting, without being forced to adjust my build ...without some idiot deciding he was "uber leet" and would go charging ahead getting us wiped ......

i finally got the chance to do it my way ...and be able to answer telelphone , take a break heck i even watched telly for an hour .. then go back to find my heroes standing there ...patient and alive ....

completed Fow on first try even though i had no idea about which order to do quests in etc ...

so i guess what im trying to say is YAY for 7 heroes!!! lol ...

i did fow first time ever, in nm, /w 7 heroes in approx 1 hr 30 min with no prior experience and absolutely no cons, and some guidance from wiki.

I used a commadagon hero and micro'd incoming and fall back which help speed up the long run distances to and fro.

I also found BUH! + assassin's promise to be so useful since party wipes did did not hinder me whatsoever. Even though in my run not a single one of my heroes died. FoW has been made an utter joke with recent updates. :/

Remember to keep an eye on the zaishen bounty rotation, as three of them (Lord Khobay, Priest of Menzies, and Dragon Lich) can be found in FoW.....if you're visiting the fissure, you might as well get extra rewards for it.
